God of War 4 LD

Type of project : School, Level Design exercice

Summary

We were asked during our 2nd year to create a forest level consistent with the ones from God of War 4. Having played it, I decided to create the level based on its narrative, more specifically the end of the narration. The level is composed of 2 parts, the first one is all about exploration and all the game mechanics used for it while the second one is a zone already existing in the game that changes to become a boss fight zone.

My personnal feedback on this project

Thanks to playing the game, the research on the established level design rules and the practice in the engine myself I've gathered a better understanding of the game's level design construction. I've also faced my own flaws, for example the lack of metrics' elements to better understand the level. Nonetheless, I learned more about Unity's terrain feature and I've improved several skills like space management, props placement, secondary exploration routes creation and player navigation.
